The most awaited design challenge of the nation, Dell Designathon is back for its edition 2.0.

Dell Designathon goes beyond the usual design challenge. Dell Designathon 1.0 was a 24 hour long design challenge for young designers to showcase their prowess on state-of-the-art design machines by Dell, and design their vision for the world in the year 2030.

Dell Designathon 2.0 is an upgrade from version 1.0 in every way possible. It is a one-of-a-kind holistic educational experience in design for the participant.

This year, as a participant at Dell Designathon 2.0 you will have the chance to not just compete among the best designers of the nation, but also go through knowledge imparting workshops & mentorship programs conducted by the experts from the Indian design industry.

Rahul Ajmera

Head of Design and co-founder – Twist Open Innovations

A User Experience designer with over 15 years of experience in the field, he has held several senior UX positions at product companies tasked with building and leading UX functions. He is an industrial design graduate from the National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad) and is also a certified Usability Analyst and a Persuasion Design specialist. He is credited with several publications in the HCI space and has been a speaker at HCI related conferences. He holds several user-interaction related patents and has helped create IP during his previous stints. Design Thinking, User experience design, Contextual innovation, Persuasive design, and User research are some of his professionally acknowledged skills.

Alka Vernekar

Director, Studio Meraki

Alka brings with her over 20 years of experience in interior and furniture architecture, including end-to-end implementations. Be it the complexity of a space, or the material detail of a piece of furniture, her strength lies in understanding the nuances of the various layers and applying them effectively to develop appropriate functional and visual solutions. She is at ease working with different scales, materials and media that constitute various elements that personalize a space.
Alka started on her journey as an independent design consultant in 2013 and co-founded Studio Meraki a design practice whose work seamlessly weaves interior and exterior spaces, from large spatial ideas to the smallest of furniture details Before venturing out on her own, Alka served as business head for Bangalore based Dovetail Furniture Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s premier design driven manufacturing companies. She led their home brand of furniture and accessories called the Designstore. As head of the design department, she spearheaded projects across all verticals – retail, residential, corporate, hospitality and institutional. Prior to Dovetail, Alka worked as a senior design associate at Tessaract Design and managed projects from concept development to execution for Retail & Corporate Interiors.
Alka is passionate about design education and has served as a visiting faculty at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), National Institute of Design (NID), Sristhi School of Art, Design and Technology, and Manipal Institute of Technology (Architecture School).
Alka is a graduate in architecture from University Vishveshwaraiya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore with a post-graduate specialization in product design from NID, Ahmedabad.

Puttaraj Belaldavar

Director, Empoise Design

Puttaraj heads the team at Empoise that builds and delivers the product solutions. Puttaraj has over 15 years of extensive experience product development and engineering with a background of working at both MNCs and Design consultancies on wide range of products. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and master’s in Product Design and Engineering from NTTF.
Kyocera Wireless, American Power Conversion and Mindtree are some of the companies he has associated with before he co-founded Empoise in year 2010.He also has experience of working with ODMs in USA, Europe, Taiwan and China to deliver products from concept to mass manufactured products.

Prithvi Rao

Faculty NIFT & Independent Trend Consultant

Prithvi Rao is a specialist in womens' fashion apparel and has been associated with brands for Design, Fashion forecasting, new brand creation, celebrity brand-building, etc. She has a passion for observing International & Indian trends, streets, lifestyles & runways.
After working for numerous years in Arvind & Madura, she currently consults for major fashion lifestyle brands & e-commerce sites. Certain brands she has worked extensively with are Arrow, Allen Solly, Ajio, Flipkart and Ms.Taken by Kriti Sanon.
She is a guest faculty in NIFT where she teaches Fashion forecast.
She has also built a wardrobe swap concept called Exchange Room with a group of fashion enthusiasts. The concept aims at bridging the gap between fashion and sustainable concepts such as upcycling. They hold events every few months across Bangalore.
Her other passions include Yoga, music & travel.
She continues to work as a design & yoga consultant.

Prashant Sutaria

Principal Architect

Prashant Sutaria , is Principal Architect , PSA , and cofounder of CELPT- centre of living and planning for tomorrow . He is a creative and thinking architect who believes in design solutions for long term and likes to explore various Architectural vocabularies.
His passion to work on projects of various types and contribute significantly towards better built environment and sustainable development has taken him across india for doing projects. In his works, he is exploring ideas for ideal built environment which can contribute towards betterment of humanity through built environment

Bhaskar Bhatt

Senior leadership position at ISDI Parsons

Bhaskar Bhatt holds a senior leadership position at ISDI Parsons Mumbai. As the Associate Dean and program director, he manages professional relationships with leading domestic and international partners. He has led the development and implementation of an technology & innovation-centrist product innovation strategy that has resulted in several patents. A professor & administrator with 17 years diverse experience, his career has spanned various roles in Institution building, teaching, research. Previously, as an Asst. Professor & department head at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad & Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, he has demonstrated expertise in greenfield as well as brownfield design education strategies. Bhaskar has served on the board of several organizations and incubators and continues to be deeply involved with the National Innovation Mission.
Bhatt’s research interests lie in affordable med-tech innovation and public health systems design. With Johns Hopkins University Baltimore, he has led innovation projects on maternal & neonatal health with clinical testing in Kenya, Nepal & India. Published and Speaker at several international and domestic conferences and symposiums, he plays a lead role in the Center for Global Health Innovation (CGHIR) at ISDI.
Bhaskar is an alumnus of Bangalore University (Engineering) and National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, India.

Solange Suri

Program Director- Fashion Design and as the Associate Dean of Academic Excellence

With more than 25 years of experience in the field of design, Solange Suri has doned many roles thorugh her career both in the corporate and the academic sphere. As a design director she has curated thematic collections and providing design direction for special projects.
Currently she is in charge of developing the Fashion Design program in collaboration with Faculty in Parsons, New York and in Mumbai. Building a strong, supportive team that is aligned with the vision and values of the institution. Bringing in fresh approaches to teaching by ' learning from the learners.' Organizing the efforts of all team members towards the goal of institution building.
Taught core and pivotal subjects in the Fashion Design disciplines such as Fashion Illustration, Design Concepts and Portfolio Development.

Kay Khoo

Partner, Fish Do It Consultants

After practising design in Malaysia for 2 decades, Kay moved to Mumbai for good. What started as an interest for problem-solving, has propelled his journey as a curator, design lead and partner at Fish Do It, a vantage point from where he observes design and architecture in India. He's passionate about design that brings genuine and deep transforming impact to brands, organisations, and people.
Kay Khoo has been Creative Director at Addikt, Chief Innovations Officer at Creativeland Asia, Co-founder and Creative Director of Kyoorius Designyatra and is currently advising Some Early Birds (Malaysia), and AICL (Mumbai).


Chandrashekhar Bheda is a textiles and handicrafts product designer and artist based in Delhi. After studying at Sir J.J. School of Arts, Bombay, National Institute of Design, NID, Ahmadabad as well as a stint at NIFT Delhi, Chandrashekhar has been working with the textiles industry since 1988. Chandrashekhar believes in the inherent timeless beauty and strengths of traditional arts and crafts, while providing a new perspective to meet contemporary demands and trends world over.
He has been professionally associated with many large corporate companies as well as Govt of India PSU’s in his career. In the beginning of this year he has been appointed as a consultant ITC Geneva, and has completed his first assignment of guiding 19 Pashmina manufacturing companies of Nepal to prepare for participation in Magic Fair, Las Vegas and JFW-IFF 2016, Tokyo.
He is on the panel of industry experts, students academic juries and, guest lecturers for various institutions including NID Ahmedabad, NIFT Delhi and Kangra, Craft Development Institute (CDI) Srinagar, Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) Srinagar, Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) Jaipur, National Center for Textile Design (NCTD), Pearl Academy of Fashion, Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and recently launched Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design Lucknow.
As a creative head of Spider Design, for 8 years he has been focusing on newer applications of textiles as a medium of expression specially in the area of spatial textiles by collaborating with brand development agencies, architects and interior designers.
He is an avid traveler, photographer and a punner.

Paul Sandip

Paul Sandip is an international award winning product designer, alumni of the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Electrical Engineer and a Cartoonist who re-defines everyday objects. His designs are led by consumer focused  innovation and refined sense of style.
He has designed over 300+ iconic everyday objects in 121 product categories for clients across 14 countries. His Design Thinking workshops/lectures are most sought after by business leaders seeking creative methods to innovate and empower their teams with the creative spark! Paul has been invited by Appolo Munich, Hewlett-Packard and Dell amongst many others to share his unique Design Thinking process for Innovation by Observation.
Paul had also been actively involved in New Product Developments at LG Electronics, India & Seoul for nearly a decade where he led experimental, hence “First in India” kind of projects.
Winner of Red Dot Award (twice!) and numerous international awards his work has been extensively published / exhibited internationally including the Triennale Museum in Milan, Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt, Red Dot Award Show in Singapore, Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong, Lite-On Awards Show in Taiwan, Design Korea Exhibition/Design Olympiad in Seoul and Alliance Francaise in Delhi.
In 2010, Paul Sandip was awarded with 100% scholarship by Domus Academy,  the home of Italian Design in Milan.
Paul has been honored by Prime Minister of India Mr.Narendra Modi as a Designpreneur in 2005 & President of Taiwan Mr.Ma Ying-jeou in 2010. In 2003 he received the guidance of Prof. Ezio Manzini, a world renowned expert on sustainable design from Italy. Paul’s work is held in permanent collections of Danish Design Museum, Copenhagen since 2009, as an example of Design to improve life!
He has designed medical devices for the Indian Rural Health sector in association with the Public Health Foundation of India as well as for an inventor from the National Health Services of the United Kingdom.

Mukul Goyal

Mukul Goyal, alumnus of Domus Academy, Milan, NID, Ahmedabad, and IIT- Kanpur is the Principal Designer and Director at Designwise India Pvt. Ltd.
He started on his professional journey in 1991 and his repertoire of design is full of objects for the home – table, living area, objects for lighting, home Decor, functional products, Home & Builder Hardware to name a few.
His inspirations are drawn from everyday life and his designs are a blend of traditional materials with contemporary expression, uncomplicated yet exuberant – a simple story but always told with a twist!
Mukul says, “I see inspiration for design everywhere – I seek to introduce a new perspective for the users, in their interface with the objects. I like to create products that intrigue people, create wonder and bring a smile to their faces!”
No wonder then that Mukul’s work has been featured in various media winning great reviews.

Anuj Prasad

Anuj Prasad is a professional Industrial Designer with over 27 years of industry and entrepreneurial experience. With a background in engineering, Anuj completed his masters in product design from NID in 1993, and thereafter co-founded DESMANIA.
Anuj has been a founding member of CII’s National Committee of Design and has been a jury member for the ‘India Design Mark’, since its inception. His endeavour is to make design a strategic and problem solving business tool.
Desmania, his award winning design company, offers product, packaging and automotive design services to the who’s who of the Indian corporate. With proven capabilities in design thinking, Desmania offers holistic design solutions with a multi-disciplinary approach. Its team of 40 talented designers and technical professionals strive to exceed client’s expectations. Desmania has full service design offices in Delhi & Mumbai along with an in-house prototyping studio in Gurgaon.
In 2015, Desmania was voted as the best Industrial Design Studio in India.

Bina Rao

Designer Bina Rao is the Founder and Creative head of the sustainable fashion & textile brand ‘Creative Bee’, based in Hyderabad, India.
(Born in a Gujarati family of Valsad at village Dhamadachi, married to Shiv Kesav Rao of Hyderabad. )
Founder trustee of Creative Bee Foundation . Member All India Handloom board 2014-18.Member Governing Council NID 2017-18.Senior consultant to United Nations 2017-2020.Member Advisory board ADI2018
She has a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from MS University (1989), Baroda, India, studied textile design from 1981 to 1983, AEP program in Textile Design from NID, Ahmadabad, India.
The private label ‘Bina Rao’ was launched in 2006 for international shows and direct export marketing. Her ethical approach towards the craft sector, passion for Indian heritage and all things natural, have earned her a place in the International league of Eco Conscious Designers as well as got the opportunity to showcase her work in India and abroad.
Apart from spearheading Creative Bee’s social business and grass root level programs in training artisans under Creative Bee Foundation, she has been associated as an advisor to number of government & private-export organizations, design institutes and museums over a period spanning more than two decades.
With strong R& D, a vertically integrated production facility and a well equipped design studio, Creative Bee has emerged as a hub of handmade & eco conscious fashion. Bina Rao also collaborates with numerous prestigious international brands and designers such EO Design (Malaysia), Gaia Concepts and St. Frank (USA), Jurgen Lehl (Japan) amongst others. Her Couture Collection includes both formal & casual Indo-Western lines of clothing for men and women, including accessories, which are available at Creative Bee stores and select designers’ studios in India. Dr. Ananth Maringati

Dr. Anant Maringanti is presently holding the position as Director Hyderabad Urban Lab. Dr Anant Maringanti is a geographer with a PhD from University of Minnesota and has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at the National University of Singapore, University of Hyderabad and the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research, Hyderabad. His research and teaching interests centre on questions of urbanization and globalization from the South Asian vantage point. He is currently the director of Hyderabad Urban Lab, a multi disciplinary research programme run by the Right to the City Foundation. He is widely published in national and international academic journals on social movements, politics of development and urbanization. As an evolving experiment in urban research, Hyderabad Urban Lab, has been developing collaborative projects involving media professionals, planners, technologists, academic researchers and legal professionals. These broad based collaborations are key to deepening our understanding of the very large informal economies that underpin contemporary cities.

Vijay Marur

Vijay Marur is a Communication Professional with over 40 years of international and national experience. An award winning advertising writer and film maker, he is a Social Media Evangelist who uses his theatre background to enhance the process of communication.

Dr. Pramod Shinde

Having been an open merit scholar throughout, Pramod obtained Bachelor of Architecture from M.S. University of Baroda (1962), Master of Technology in Regional Planning with first rank (1966) and Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Planning and design (1976) both from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He was awarded senior research fellowship of Council of scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. He has over sixty research papers and three books published to his credit. He was the principal, College of Fine Arts and Architecture. Hyderabad (1979 — 89). Director, School of Planning and Architecture, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (1989 — 2000) and is the principal, Sri Venkatswara College of Architecture, Hyderabad since July 2000.
During the long tenure of two and half decades, he succeeded in starting M.Arch. in Environment design (1981), Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting, sculpture, applied art and photography (1985-86), Master of Urban & Regional Planning (1991), Master of Architecture in Interior Design (2000) and Master of Architecture at SVCA (2005-06). He founded doctoral research in JNTU from 1991 and has guided more then 6 doctoral candidates at JNTU, Anna University — Chennai and Sanskrit University — Kerala.
While working with public and private sector offices and as consultant, he has worked on a number of architectural and planning projects, which are spread over many states and cities of India. Some of the important planning schemes include Narora and Obra Townships in Uttar Pradesh, Traffic and Transportation Plan for Nagpur Metropolitan Region and master plan for JNTU College of Engineering. Hyderabad. The Government of Maharashtra appointed him as non-governmental expert on the study group of Nagpur Metropolitan Regional Planning Board, which is an important public sector project after Bombay Metropolitan Plan.
